So I am thinking of making some coaster tiles with my photos on them, decorative tiles with my photos on them and candles with my photos on them. If I am able to do this, it won't be till' June or July and that's if everything works out.
I will probably have to sell them on sites like ebay and etsy because at the start, I won't make enough to get a sales tax license. Hopefully things will work out so I can do this. If I am able to, I will make an announcement on here and post the thinks. Have a good week :)
Since October or November (I think), the art museum has had a Star Wars thing where they have costumes and inside stories about them. This is the last month and in fact it ends this weekend. I went there yesterday and did some walking downtown taking a few photos. Both my SLR and hand held were low on batteries (oops) so I couldn't take as many photos as I wanted. Next time I will make sure my battery is full and take a lot more. I haven't uploaded my city photos yet but below is one of the photos from the Star Wars exhibit.
The Star Wars exhibit was really cool and was awesome to see the costumes right there. It brought back the feelings when I was a kid and first saw the 4th one (A new hope) in theaters. The costumes were from all the Star Wars so far. They didn't have every costume but they did have a lot. You were also given radio type thing so you could press certain buttons to hear certain facts about the thing you are looking at. They also had concept art and some storyboards. Seeing Darth Vader, Chewy, R2, C-3PO, BB8 and Princess Leia's costumes were just amazing. I don't have the right to describe what it was really like. I did get a little sad seeing Carrie Fisher's costumes. The photos are not great because we couldn't use a flash and I used my hand held.
I didn't realize that it's been so long since I last blogged. Ooops. Not much goes on in my photography world. I was going to meet up with a photography group about a week ago but I got sick. :/ I'm better now but my voice is still not fulling back to normal. I did do some still life photography in my own home. Below is one of the shots. A couple of other shots are in my photos under abstract. In the next week or two, I am hoping I can go into town to do some shots. It mostly depends on the wacky weather we have been having.
Light painting is something I really want to get into more. I don't have much light sources but I do what I can with what I have. No two photos can look the same no matter how hard you try but this isn't a bad thing. There are endless possibilities to create a light painting photo and I think this is why I'm so drawn to it. I just love to create.
A few days ago, I took a Corona bottle, some of my lighting tools and did some light painting. Before that, at the beginning of the year, I took a bottle of Sutter House wine and did the same thing. I can't put these photos up on web sites for sale because of the name brand on the bottles but I can post them for show. The best ones are (or will be) on my facebook page (a link to my page is in the links tab). I will also have some here under the abstract photo tab. I hope to do more in the future with different drinks.
So I thought I would soon put up more things, I was wrong. I have been just trying to get as much as my house together as possible but taking my time so I don't over due it.
My trip to Estes Park was gorgeous. I didn't get to go to Rocky Mountain National park due to time and I didn't want to try and pack too much stuff into my short time there. Plus, my husband was apparently getting sick and didn't have the energy.
I enjoyed staying at the Stanley Hotel. My room was a little small, the toilet was low but it was very nice and would stay there again if I had the money. I do recommend it. No paranormal things happened but it was still very nice.
I LOVE Estes park and wish I could live there or at least have a gateway home there. I did see a couple of elk heard which is cool. It's a gorgeous place.
I decided to make some changes to this site since it has been the same since I first put up this site. I liked it but I wanted a change. Things have changed a little and I'm not having good luck with certain things. One of the things is the fact that the social icons are located on the bottom of the page. I can't place them at the top of the page. I still have to play around with things to continue to make some changes including adding photos and more links to the fine art america pages. Hopefully it won't take me much longer. Take care. :)
I am finally done with moving, have my internet back up and have slowly started putting my new house together. I hate the moving part but don't mind putting everything together in a new place. At some point I need to find a job nearby.
Now that I am a little more settled, I can continue to try and put up new features. I will also try to add a few more photos to this site. That part is going to take a little bit especially since my digital photo cd's are still packed somewhere but I will get it done when I can.
Sometime soon I will be going to Estes Park Colorado and stay at the famous Stanley Hotel. I can't wait. I hope to get some awesome shots of nature, the hotel and hopefully see some wildlife. Hopefully the fall colors will still be nice and bright when I get there. :) Until next time.
In the next week or so, I am going to be moving into another house. I won't be doing a whole lot during that time so it might be awhile until the next feature (after the new one I'm about to post). I also don't know what is going to be happening with my job so I have to concentrate on that too. I hate moving but I do like making a place my own. :)
A few days ago I did my first photo shoot without the back up of my photography group. It was with a friend but still. I still need lots of practice taking photos of people. I was nervous because right now I have a hard time coming up with poses or trying to get my ideas out. Then there is the lighting. That's a whole other thing.
I did okay though. I will be doing more to get the hang of it. I don't know if this is the kind of photography that I want to really get in to but I still want to learn how to do it. I can't wait to do more shoots. :)
So my stupid crashed. I didn't have a chance to save certain things either. Grrr. Luckily my digital photos are saved on discs so I still have those. :D
I have played around a little with some light painting using an apple in one set and a toy car in another. They came pretty okay. I can't share them right now because I don't have those photos on my new computer yet (they were on my old one but they are still on my camera). I should be able to get some of them up soon to show.
I worked on the fourth of July so I couldn't go anywhere. I did have enough time to grab my camera and stand outside my place to see them and take some shots. Unfortunately there are telephone poles and wires also in the shots so they don't make good photography shots, just snap shots. I am starting to get the hang of taking photos of them though. Hopefully next year I will be able to go somewhere to get some amazing shots. Nothing else but pushing carts in the icky heat (my job) has been going go. Until next time.
This past weekend I went to a chalk art festival and the people's fair. The people's fair is basically a weekend packed with fun stuff to do and a place to hang, listen to music, eat and spend money you don't have. They have a few rides, people with their tents up selling their goodies, food, drinks, different bands etc. This time I didn't take many photos of the people's fair but took a lot of the chalk art. This is my 3rd year going and I love it.
For 2 days, the artist sit there in the blistering heat (usually) creating their chalk drawings only for them to be washed away on the last day. Very few are in 3D if you stand/take a photo at a certain angle. I wish there were more 3D ones. There is a contest to see who has the best drawing in each category. One can vote via text. A day or two later, the winners are revealed. It definitely takes a lot of time to do something like that and one has to be really passionate about it. It's hard work.
In my photos, under the "Just for show" tab, I have posted a few photos in the slide show (they are the ones towards the end). I should have a couple more things I'm going to this month plus some trying things at home when I can. Until then, have a great one :)
